Jack Lewis, U.S. Air Force

Jack Lewis served in the U.S. Air force during World War II.

Jack had a two day pass and set out to find his twin brother who was in the Infantry. A quote from his letter states, "From Belgium to the Rhine river I hunted and found him, to his unspeakable surprise, and my grateful satisfaction. In Jed I found a tired soldier, but in good health and spirits ... has a pretty rugged life, one that will tell on any man, but won't get a good man down...frame of mind, a good sense will take care...along with faith in God." The brothers were able to spend fourteen hours together, after which time Jack managed to find a way back to his place of service. Jed was in Germany at Remagen Bridge.

Three brothers, Jack, Jed, and Edward Lewis all served in WWII. They, along with their family had been church members since 1920 when the family moved to Dallas from Wichita Falls. All came through the war in good health and have spent their lives serving in their respective churches. (Jack is a member of First Baptist Church-Dallas.)
