Rodger L. Borgeson

RODGER L. BORGESON WAS A LOYAL MEMBER OF FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH WHICH BEGAN UNDER PASTOR GEORGE W. TRUETT AND DR. CRISWELL, ENDING UPON HIS DEATH UNDER DR BRUNSON. HE WAS AN USHER FOR YEARS WELCOMING PEOPLE AS THEY ENTERED OUR CHURCH. HE PASSED AWAY IN DECEMBER OF 2002. HE IS SURVIVED BY IDA BORGESON AND SANDRA GEORGE, HIS DAUGHTER

HE SERVED HIS COUNTRY WITH DIGNITY AS A SERGEANT IN THE ARMY AIR CORP. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE "OMAHA" DIVISION THAT LANDED ON NORMANDY BEACH ON "D-DAY". LATER HE FOUGHT IN THE "BATTLE OF THE BULGE". HE HAD ENORMOUS COURAGE AND FAITH ... HE SURVIVED.

YEARS LATER, ON THOSE RARE OCCASIONS WHEN HE SPOKE ABOUT THE WAR, HE REMINDED US THAT FREEDOM ISN'T FREE. IT HAS TO BE WON AND PROTECTED ... SOMETHING THAT PEOPLE SEEM TO FORGET.

ON DECEMBER 24, 2002, RODGER WENT TO BE WITH THE LORD. HE WAS BURIED WITH HONOR, DRAPPED WITH THE AMERICAN FLAG. THE MILITARY PLAYED TAPS. DR LAMARR COOPER PRESIDED OVER HIS BURIAL, DELIVERING A POWERFUL SERMON OF HOPE IN THE LORD AND THE RESURRECTION. EVERYONE WAS MOVED, SOME WERE SAVED.

THIS IS A SMALL PIECE ABOUT A GOOD MAN WHO LOVED THE LORD AND HIS CHURCH AND HIS FAMILY.
